Common Faults
What Usually Comes In
Hammond hum
A 120 Hz hum through the AO-28 is the classic sign that the power supply filter capacitors are finished. Recapping it is routine, well-documented work.
Leslie speed and noise
Dry bearings and glazed drive wheels are why a Leslie will not come up to speed or will not hold one. Motor service, lubrication, and drive surface work.
Rhodes tuning and voicing
Tine height, escapement, and pickup position determine both tuning and bark. Setting them across the whole instrument is what makes a Rhodes play evenly.
Rhodes electronics
Suitcase preamps and power amps, including hard-to-source parts in the Peterson power amp that are usually written off as unobtainable.
Dead keys and contacts
Contact cleaning and adjustment on organs and electric pianos where keys are silent, weak, or inconsistent.
Note: These instruments are heavy and awkward, and a Leslie in particular does not travel well. If you are local, drop-off is usually the better call.

Yes - motor service, bearings, drive wheels, lubrication, and the electronics.
Can you tune and voice a Rhodes?
Yes. Full tuning, tine and escapement setup, and pickup positioning across the instrument, not just the notes that are obviously off.
Do you do pickup and repair?
For heavy instruments locally, that can usually be arranged. Ask when you get in touch.
Is a full recap worth it on a Hammond?
On an untouched AO-28, generally yes. The capacitors are decades past their service life and the hum they cause will only get worse.
