Dead or intermittent channels
Traced through the signal path stage by stage rather than swapping modules until it works.
Power supply and rail failures
A missing or sagging supply rail takes out everything downstream. On a recent Avalon U5 the positive rail was gone entirely - the cause turned out to be an open transformer winding, not the supply board everyone suspects first.
Transformer faults
Open windings and failed input or output transformers, which are frequently misread as a fault in the circuit they feed.
Noise and hum
Grounding problems, failing electrolytics, and supply ripple appearing where it should not.
Connectors and mechanical
Jacks, switches, and connectors - the parts that actually take the abuse on touring gear.

A $75 bench fee starts the job and is applied to your total if you approve the work ($50 for pedals and small electronics). I trace the actual fault before touching anything, then send you findings and a written estimate.
Repair and Test
Nothing proceeds without your approval. Labor runs $85/hr for pedals and small electronics, $105/hr for amplifiers, and $125/hr for synths and pro audio, plus parts at cost + 15%. Standard turnaround is 3-7 business days; rush service is $75.

You get a written summary of what was found and what was done, and a 30-day labor warranty. If something I fixed comes back, I make it right.

Standard is 3-7 business days. Rush service with a 48-hour turnaround is available for an additional $75.
Do you work on digital gear?
Where the fault is serviceable, yes. If a repair depends on a part or firmware nobody can get any more, I will tell you that instead of billing you to find out.
Can I ship outboard gear in?
Yes - rack gear and small outboard ship well and I take mail-in work from anywhere. Email me before sending.
